Caring for a child with specific learning difficulties can be very stressful and confusing. The Dyslexia Teaching Centre offers support to parents on both a practical and emotional level.

  • Support for parents includes:
    Individual consultations covering a variety of issues including: choosing the right school; assessment procedures and homework management
  • Parent workshops – helping you to help your child & building self – esteem
  • Co-ordination with a range of other specialists (Speech therapists; Physiotherapists; Occupational Therapists; Educational Psychologists Maths specialists; Music and Art specialists etc)to ensure that your child, who may have a complex range of needs is provided with the best multi-disciplinary support

Educational counseling and advice
Many parents welcome guidance in choosing the right school for their child. The Centre has an excellent knowledge of specialist and mainstream schools and can advise on the ‘best-fit’ for an individual child. Liaison with the school teachers and on-going monitoring of the child’s progress can be provided.
